Behavioral health (BH) clinicians who provide clinical supervision often lack formal training for primary care settings, and there is little formal support in their practice settings, which can lead to isolation. There is not yet a uniform approach to providing professional development in primary care supervision.

Context: Primary care is essential to health but barriers include affordability of care and accessibility of physicians. Importantly, Virginia's Medicaid expansion reduced cost-related barriers to accessing care for over 700,000 individuals. Of these, 117,481 (57.2%) individuals had at least one primary care visit.
