Context: A patient’s relationship with their primary care physician (PCP) or advanced practice provider (APP) is instrumental in their healthcare journey. The provider-level continuity index was calculated by dividing the number of in-panel visits by the total number of visits over the last year.

Study design: Qualitative descriptive study conducted using ten 45-minute semi-structured interviews with primary care physicians in North Carolina between March and April 2022. Responses were analyzed using both deductive and inductive approaches to identify primary topics.
