If you’re a 4th year medical student who is unmatched at this point, my advice is the following: Focus on securing a one year preliminary or transitional year position! Even if you had your heart set on a particular specialty, at this point, making sure you graduate with a JOB should be of utmost importance.

I am 11 hours into my shift and between physical and telemedicine visits, I have seen a total of 46 patients today AND finished all my notes! Not sure if it will help anyone, and I made sure to retract program names, so just posting on the blog for my memories. Right now, I am at work and just got a break. Anyway, back to ERAS.

And I think of the analogy of, like, cancer screening. The stopping the cancer screening doesn’t have that same sort of momentum. But I had a terrific MSTAR medical student working with me this past summer who was looking to see whether there were the type of medication, like the half life or was a Z versus a benzo.

It is a screening? And so then it would be nice to have those other than the chaplains, be aware of the spiritual component and then just ask some basic screening questions. And the screening questions would just allow you to know that. Who does the assessments, who does screening? I guess FICA is not as cool as SKY.
