It started here at Madison at one and it’s also spread outside the VA now to hospitals in Boston, Providence and now starting up actually in California and UCLA and UCSF.

He had a 14 month recovery in hospital and rehab and continually asked to have life sustaining treatment suspended so that he could be allowed to die. So she bled a lot and finally called for help and was transferred to the hospital, where she started crashing in the trauma room. She didn’t die in the hospital.

So one end of the spectrum is somebody who’s just a total novice, and it’s clearly very awkward and they’re not used to talking to people in a clinical encounter, like a medical student or something like that. We were often the only ones left in the hospital. But there physically wasn’t the time, and there wasn’t that energy to be able to do everything for. And I didn’t think I needed to make it better. But chaplains, especially during COVID were the ones that were just sent in there. We went into the rooms.
