Assuming my hospital is still standing, I would obviously continue to work my job as best as I could to continue to bring in income. An emergency fund should be used for emergencies only (car wreck, unemployment, unexpected healthcare expenses, etc.) I would then subsequently file a claim with my homeowners and flood insurance.

Matt Tyler (aka Pallidad for those on Twitter ): Matt is the Hospice and Palliative care doctor who created How To Train Your Doctor , which helps patients living with serious illness find tips on “owning” their healthcare plan on his Instagram and YouTube pages. I do think other healthcare providers need to learn about this.
