I opened my diary (an actual physical book, not Outlook) and the silver ribbon is firmly stuck in the week of Wednesday 22nd May. I had been showered with gifts and cakes from work colleagues, as I prepared to do a little job-crafting and switch back to more GP-ing and less laptopping. Nothing has been written in it since then.

It would probably be harder to find the support if on your own, but after you obtain your license, you could theoretically start your own practice as a General Practitioner (GP). There are a few states like Missouri, that will allow you to practice as an “ Assistant Physician ” with a collaborating physician to supervise your work.

In fact I was scared, and worried and uncertain, and it manifested in physical symptoms of dyspnoea, tachycardia and headrush. My wonderful GP has died, but I am building a relationship with my new one. I glanced at the screen occasionally to watch the wonderful new President Dr Ina Kelly and her colleagues deliver their speeches.

A general physician (GP) is not the same as a family physician (FP). In fact, I enjoy patients who are engaged in their care and ask questions.
