In further contrast to the United States, MAID in Canada is almost entirely administered by a clinician, whereas in the United States patients must self administer. And importantly the patient has to have capacity and they have to be able to take the drug themselves. So being well and also potentially periods of dying.

And I wonder if that is key in patients, people who are experiencing homelessness as well. A lot of the principles that are talked about in core topics in substance use health, I definitely do extend. It might have to do with a sensitivity around mental health. Government is not the 51st state.

So if you look at government websites about heat for example, it’s got a line of buttons across the top with affected populations, outdoor workers, athletes and older people are in there. So it’s just every single part of our life is affected and mental health issues. Why is it up to the healthcare system?
