My take home from this is that while the most preferred explanation for deprescribing statins and sedative-hypnotics is one focused on the risk of side effects, we also need to individualize it to the patient and the medication that they are taking. In day-to-day practice, It’s hard to imagine providing excellent hospice or palliative care services without access to a team social worker. And so when you have that, that’s so good for the family. I can figure out how to provide care in this way. And this was before peds palliative care really had traction.
