As many of you understand, our Capitol community is like a family and many of us have worked together for years, if not decades. Non-Opioid Directive Patients can now file a directive to prevent being prescribed opioids. More broadly, this is a profound loss for the entire state of Minnesota.

As a family physician, my days are filled with caring for individuals and families across the lifespan and in multiple healthcare settings. I spend other days meeting with legislators or advocacy groups to discuss policy and how it may impact patients’ health, as well as physicians’ ability to care for them.
