The SAMHSA defines trauma as an event, series events or set of circumstances experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening, with lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual. I have 24,500 veterans on our caseload, 14,000 individuals with diagnosed mental health issue, 8,500 with an alcohol and substance abuse. I knew them, I developed a relationship with them. It’s somebody different every month, and you never develop that relationship. To Susan’s point.
