When we started doing more music stuff for our patients in the hospital, a lot of people started to think, hmm, what would I want to listen to? A music therapist would use music deliberately to achieve a rehabilitation goal, just like a physical therapist or an occupational therapist. I’m originally an ER physician.

I have never had a patient come into the hospital and say, Doctor, regardless of what you do, do a little CPR that’ll make me feel better. I would say most of the time we offer CRT in the hospital. It’s such a physical act, showing just how strong doctor’s moral resolve is to save a life. This is Eric Widera.

He had a 14 month recovery in hospital and rehab and continually asked to have life sustaining treatment suspended so that he could be allowed to die. So she bled a lot and finally called for help and was transferred to the hospital, where she started crashing in the trauma room. She didn’t die in the hospital.
