He had a 14 month recovery in hospital and rehab and continually asked to have life sustaining treatment suspended so that he could be allowed to die. So she bled a lot and finally called for help and was transferred to the hospital, where she started crashing in the trauma room. She didn’t die in the hospital.

It was specific to the relationship with the patient, the patient’s social context in which they might take this information. At the Mayo clinic, for example, they’ve got a very robust hospital at home program. I think a lot of back office function, predicting ER loads and OR loads to do better scheduling of staff.
