Commonly known as "the regulars," these familiar faces are sprinkled throughout our day between all our other patient visits. It is a real problem in our ER. It is a real problem nationwide.

Several years ago, my daughter Emma introduced me to some videos on YouTube of a dermatologist from California who posted her sometimes shocking but always intriguing encounters with patients who suffered from a variety of dermatologic issues. Suddenly, my job as an ER physician was boring. Well, okay--Emma liked pus and blackheads.

I am also grateful for my family who stepped in after graduation and let my daughter come live with them so I could focus on intern year (they refused to let me move her to "dangerous" Philly lol) after not matching the first time. Later on in the month, I was able to take my daughter on a family trip to my alma mater LSU.
