So elderly people who aspirated, got pneumonia, had an mi, didn’t get hauled off to the emergency room on an ambulance crew so they could die in the ER. And so I thought about it a while, called, and sure enough, they brought him up to the emergency room. That makes it really special for them and for me.

It feels special to me. They’re limited because, on the individual level, when you get down to it, the complexities of these stories and the caring involved may lead to these complex relationships, understanding what the goals are, as you had done with your mom. I don’t know what this is. It feels important to me.
