The Cruzan ruling led to a flood of interest in Advance Directives, and eventually to the Patient Self Determination Act, which mandates provision of information about advanced directives to all hospitalized patients.

So if one of my patients gets admitted, I also see them on the inpatient side of our hospital. I’m embedded in the ICU in one of our smaller hospitals. As this patient has an x percent mortality in three months, there’s a little more nuance to it, and it isn’t really applied to the individual. So I go between.
