So we measure things like hospitalizations and ed visits and the like, and those data are a bit weaker, but they’re also, you know, I think they need to be contextualized in what, why we would even want to reduce hospitalizations right. Why would we want to? Now, we would believe this from a primary care perspective.

The hospital refused without a court order, and the case eventually made its way to the Supreme Court. The Cruzan ruling led to a flood of interest in Advance Directives, and eventually to the Patient Self Determination Act, which mandates provision of information about advanced directives to all hospitalized patients.

So, the top two were that assisted living communities, in those communities the resident should be present during assessment and care planning. Or do you want to go to the hospital if something happens?

So if one of my patients gets admitted, I also see them on the inpatient side of our hospital. I’m embedded in the ICU in one of our smaller hospitals.
