Current medical AIs only process one type of data, for example, text or X-ray images. To diagnose and treat a patient, a healthcare professional listens to the patient, reads their health files, looks at medical images and interprets laboratory results. However, medicine, by nature, is multimodal as are humans.

But I just don’t expect my medical students, residents and generalist colleagues to do that and to have that. I think that I want my residents and medical students and colleagues to do more than a math calculation. And then again, individualizing it to the patient. Delighted to be here. During my training, I didn’t receive much education about radiation oncology, and I’m not entirely sure what some of the terms mean (hypofractionated means fewer sessions, right?). Anish 07:54 I would say sort of echoing what Emily was just referring to is education is key. So I think education is key.

Social workers augment a team’s ability to provide whole-person care, often aiding to identify and meaningfully address the wide variety of challenges and unmet needs faced by individuals and families facing serious illness. It’s a first Department of Health Social Work in a medical school in the country. So hopefully that one.

Graduated in 2013, did a two-year clinician educator track. I was very close with my grandparents growing up, and then I actually was exposed to geriatrics as a pre-med student at Yale New Haven Hospital as one of the volunteers and Dr. I explored other things, but I felt like I consistently gravitated toward the care of older adults.
