A music therapist would use music deliberately to achieve a rehabilitation goal, just like a physical therapist or an occupational therapist. I’m originally an ER physician. So elderly people who aspirated, got pneumonia, had an mi, didn’t get hauled off to the emergency room on an ambulance crew so they could die in the ER. And it bothers me how the nurses are there, the physical therapists are there, some of the social workers are there. The intention was to place it in the beds in nursing homes.

These were usually very physically demanding, low paid, often usually non-union work, that they worked their whole lives and were hanging on by their fingernails. They didn’t go to the psych ER again. Now, they didn’t shut down the psych ER, so did they really save money, because they didn’t go?
