Context: Most children with functional abdominal pain (FAP) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) could be managed in primary care (PC). It is not clear which children are referred and what the differences are between PC and hospital care populations. Sixteen children in PC did not have a Rome diagnosis of FAP or IBS (10.5%).
