Second, Hospice was originally designed for patients with advanced cancer, but the fastest growing admitting diagnosis is dementia. As a nurse case manager in hospice, half of my patients had dementia. Nurse case management, social worker case management, medications, medical equipment, a home health aid, all that stuff goes away.
