Qualitative interviews were conducted with Ontario patients aged > 50 with diagnosis of (or receiving treatment for) type 2 diabetes prior to pandemic onset. Population Studied: Using CPCSSN data, we defined a cohort of patients aged 50-105 with diabetes diagnosed before the pre-pandemic period.

Advocacy groups were responsive to patients’ experiences and needs before diagnosis and during treatment but generally not actively engaged in long-term survivorship. Results Participants (n=9) included leaders from two local advocacy groups, three regional groups, and four national groups. We identified four consistent themes.
