I have 24,500 veterans on our caseload, 14,000 individuals with diagnosed mental health issue, 8,500 with an alcohol and substance abuse. And just going back to that patient, I’ll tell you, before I started this role, I would have probably looked at the handout box in our clinic and been like, oh, okay. Is it the patient?

Then it really wasn’t until I got into medicine, medical school and residency, that I discovered poetry per se, and a mentor commented, I think to a number of us on this podcast, Steve McKee introduced me to poetry.
