I think that study was really important, especially I think the message that I give people is you can do something as simple as calling a consultation and improve quality of life months later. Now, some of the other secondary things, you know, you may have have seen if it was trigger of specialty palliative care consultations.

Years and years ago, the first few years as an attending physician, I was consulted to take care of a gentleman with metastatic esophageal cancer. For this weekly treatment, the cancer team that had been consulted in the hospital told him this is nonsense. My approach to writing papers is really the patient cases that stick with me.

We started a clinic here in 2008 at the VA, and what we found was that, you know, our median time from consult to death before we started clinic was like 18 days, somewhere around there, like somewhere around two weeks.
