Now, newborn screening, or NBS, includes testing newly born infants for certain IEMs. So, again, to reinforce, since IEMs have very specific non specific presentations, the goal in the ER is not to specifically diagnose the IEM.

Alex: Yeah, we talk a lot about de-skilling in geriatrics and palliative care, because so much of what we do is a consultant role. At the Mayo clinic, for example, they’ve got a very robust hospital at home program. I think a lot of back office function, predicting ER loads and OR loads to do better scheduling of staff.
