Well, as a kick off to this year’s first in-person State of the Science plenary, held in conjunction with the closing Saturday session of the AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly, 3 randomized clinical trials were presented. It did not change the frequency of palliative care consultation, the timing of such, ICU mortality, or six-month mortality.

People would present with horrible opportunistic infections, not just pneumocystis pneumonia, but CNS infections with toxoplasmosis and wasting syndrome, of course.

This is not why I went into emergency medicine. I went into emergency medicine to act. Why is that important in the emergency room?

That put me in the emergency room. I actually do some consulting work with a company called the Farmstand that’s based in a community called the Villages in Florida. After I asked many people how many used it, and I would say less than one in ten were willing to talk to their healthcare provider. David 12:34 Yeah.

Check out some of their recent work, including: Dr. Holt-Lunstad’s and Dr. Perissinotto’s powerful perspective piece in the New England Journal of Medicine which provides a clinical framework for addressing loneliness and social isolation. I think I feel more comfortable as a provider in trying to support people in their isolation.

Well, I’m a geriatric nurse practitioner and I provided care to over 800 nursing home residents in 11 different nursing homes. I was really struck by the difference in care provided to people with advanced dementia. Rehabbed to Death.
