And so I began to think about the training that I had and that there was no mental health condition that was diagnosed. Really, only thing that I think was really in the biomedical health services literature at that time was probably Carla’s paper on loneliness. Or was that just the lingering conversations?

And it was really good for my mental and physical… Physical health, obviously, but mental health really. And then three weeks later, you’re in the emergency room and somebody else talks with you for a little while. So if you are sick, I really encourage you, just take the time off.

We do consults all the time on these where different people will say, no, it makes sense to try. But more and more patients end up in emergency rooms and ICUs and they’re unrepresented. You don’t know what their quality of life is going to be on the other end. Others like, no, it doesn’t make sense to try.
