So like as an example, in New York State, if someone has no healthcare proxy that they’ve designated, there is a legal structure by which we can assign a surrogate, whereas other states don’t have that same structure. But they also did not do the DPOA for healthcare form. So there’s no healthcare surrogate.

But then once it was open, started seeing a lot of other populations: not just our own hospital population, but a lot more just community members calling with concerns about driving. So we’re trying to help replace the transportation option. Because how that is approached can have lasting effects on relationships, unfortunately.

So we take that science and we apply it to something that’s very messy and chaotic, like a human being or a community or a population. I think it started off from a need, a hunger in the community.
