Don’t get me wrong, the evidence points to cost savings, but as Chris Callahan and Kathleen Unroe pointed out in a JAGS editorial in 2020 “in comprehensive dementia care models, savings may accrue to Medicare, but the expenses accrue to a fluid and unstable network of local service providers, patients, and their families.” Malaz: I love it.

And I think that it was percolating in a lot of the palliative care community. She sought me out to come and tell me a story because about 10 years earlier, she and her family, their loved one was dying in a hospital in Florida and they tried to access palliative care and they couldn’t get the doctor to refer them to palliative care.

The entire White community was getting affirmative action. And the uprooting of DEI is an act of violence.
