You know, most, most ERs admit, you know, far fewer than 50% of their patients. They go to observation and go home or just get discharged straight from the ER? So Tammie developed something called EPIC for Emergency medicine, which is a curriculum that was one of the first ways that I think palliative care got spread in our community.

She’s a hospice and palliative care nurse practitioner and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at UCSF. So initially hospice grew as a non-profit, charity based, community based organization. Eric: Alex, we have some great guests with us today. Alex: We have some wonderful guests. Now it’s 70%.

Alex: We are delighted to welcome back two very special guests who were with us early in the COVID pandemic, and really shown a light on what was happening for the rest of us who could see this giant wave coming, and were just thirsty for information and experiences from those people who were experiencing it early.
