So Tammie developed something called EPIC for Emergency medicine, which is a curriculum that was one of the first ways that I think palliative care got spread in our community. We adapted a small group of us, Vital Talk for emergency medicine, which is communication skills training using simulation. And so we use that.

Many were community hospitals. We didn’t make them communicate it, but we focused them on it, which makes them more likely to then utilize that information. These were EHR documents in the patient’s chart built within the Atrium Health’s electronic health record, where they document other things.

We were the highest utilizers of telemedicine in the whole UCSF health system at that time which we’re very proud of. And I think that it was percolating in a lot of the palliative care community.
