Social workers augment a team’s ability to provide whole-person care, often aiding to identify and meaningfully address the wide variety of challenges and unmet needs faced by individuals and families facing serious illness. And so when you have that, that’s so good for the family. That’s so good for us.

And that grew into a group of volunteers coming back and at least providing support groups, giving those men a place where they could talk at least. It’s by choice, just like in the community. In many cases, the families were the victims of the crime. Only about 5% of the population is female. They suffered from it.

So this is about two and a half, three years out from leukemia diagnosis. And the point of that is that so many people, in my experience, and I’m sure it’s the same initial diagnosis of cancer, that’s the last thing that I want to talk about. And I said, sure. And I had that mortified look on my face of God.
