I’ll make the important distinction between gastritis – which is diagnosed only via endoscopy – and dyspepsia, the term best used to describe the symptoms many patients experience. This measures both acid and non acid reflux events. Endoscopy, upper GI and endoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing gastritis.

Participants were recruited via electronic healthcare records, community tabling events, and social media efforts. Our Community Advisory Board (CAB) guided this work. Only a few received stage 1 diagnoses. Verbatim transcripts in English and Spanish were analyzed in NVivo 14.

We need this type of push to make us feel that we are part of a community and we are part of a movement and things are changing because we are around. And the truth is we don’t want, I don’t want any patient or family to perceive that when Brera goes to see me, there’s a second interest, a second gain.

This is my early father’s day gift from the family. But at that time I was struck by how in that field, there wasn’t a focus or really interest in symptom management and support for patients and their families. So at least in my oncology community, I really didn’t have anyone guiding or supporting or mentoring me.

And again, that can create a food desert, which can create health issues for patients and their families, so that’s an example of structural racism, but again, it’s baked into laws. You go into this community, perform this study, you leave. I probably should have said GFR. Eric: Yes. I just choose GFR.
