It does seem that if communities, particularly historically marginalized communities, are interested in ACP, that fact should carry some weight in how resources are allocated to research and health care financing. Joan: A lot of my work comes out of my clinical practice. That’s a problem in our healthcare financing system. Nursing homes are subsidized by their Medicare, by their rehab patients. Once a nursing home gets a bad reputation and they can’t attract the rehab patients anymore, they’re in big trouble.
