Based on this surge in evidence, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists recently updated their guidelines for care of older adults to state that all older adults receiving systemic therapy (including chemo, immuno, targeted, hormonal therapy) should receive geriatric assessment guided care. We just couldn’t find one that quite fit our needs, and I’m sure that they differ to some extent by the clinical context, so we reviewed a bunch of categorizations that were in the literature and this was the most parsimonious group that we could come up with, that I thought captured the core elements of spirituality.

It’s like a long, I don’t know, almost like a quarter-mile centipede with legs, and the legs are the housing units, the medical units, inpatient mental health. We have about 450 inpatient mental health beds. There are clinics. We also look at their mental health.
