I was involved in the ethics committee with Tim, and we started creating a series of webinars with an awesome group of collaborators that addressed implicit bias. It’s baked into people’s belief systems, who ultimately make laws and make policies, and it can influence healthcare. It can influence education systems.

And when I was getting my PhD, I wanted to find something that spoke to me, and I had been doing clinical work in nursing homes. And if I were to ask the Greek gods for one thing, I just wish there was better instruction or education for people to know what it is that they’re getting into. I wish we did a better job.

That’s focused on older adults who are too frail to get into clinic. In that clinical experience, we saw a lot of older adults who would develop acute illness, often exacerbations of their chronic conditions. We relied on our clinical experience as geriatricians, that home-based primary care experience. Bruce: Sure.
