A lot of those symptoms of depression can also be attributed to different kinds of physical symptoms. Because often what we hear from patients, “I do a lot of pain management research,” but mood comes up in that a lot, is that, “Oh, I don’t want to talk to my doctor about this. I’m dying.”

These are patients who had a pre-existing chronic disease, very broadly defined. COPD, heart failure, solid oncology, hematologic malignancy, dementia, ALS, interstitial lung disease, several others. We have our social workers and our psychologists and we know how to manage these symptoms. Kate: Sure. Eric: Okay.
