Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Also known as painful bladder syndrome, interstitial cystitis is a chronic condition that causes bladder pressure and pelvic pain. There’s no bacterial infection present in urine tests. Unlike a UTI, IC is not caused by bacteria and doesn’t respond to antibiotics.
