So I have thought about this for months, maybe years since your 2016, cycle blog, but we have picked Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen. And he was so thankful that he kind of ended up in the hepatic coma and got diagnosed with liver cancer because it was his chance to be linked to treatment for addiction, which is so extreme.

As we’ve written about on GeriPal when we were a blog (a decade ago!) I think the first time I noticed it was, like as a medical student when you would rotate on one service with one attending and they would make decisions about how to treat a case one way. So every single doctor that sees the same patient gets the same stimuli.

So one end of the spectrum is somebody who’s just a total novice, and it’s clearly very awkward and they’re not used to talking to people in a clinical encounter, like a medical student or something like that. Stop thinking the physical exam or the differential diagnose, whatever, and just be there. Josh: Yeah.

I remember walking through San Francisco Airport with Bob, we just happened to be there at similar times, and saying, “Eric and I are thinking about starting a blog.” You and I would listen to a suggested list of diagnoses and say, “That’s a reasonable idea. ” And one of the students raised his hand.
