Surrogates often either dont know what patients would want, or think they know but are wrong, or make choices that align with their own preferences rather than the patients. The first one is that a lot of patients, particularly the end of life, probably the majority of them, can’t make their own decisions. Good to be here.

Febrile seizures are due to the degree of fever, not the rate of temperature rise, even though we see them as the temperature is increasing rapidly in the early parts of the illness. The majority of children have febrile seizures on the first day of illness. In some cases, it’s actually their first manifestation of illness.
