Other family doctors only see patients in their clinics. As a doctor, I enjoy caring for everyone, young and old, sick and well! Is a General Physician (GP) the same as a Family Physician (FP)? A general physician (GP) is not the same as a family physician (FP).

Studies from the USA showed that adding one GP per 10,000 inhabitants was associated with 2-5 fewer deaths 5 , 6 and 4 fewer hospitalizations 5 annually. 7 Overall, such an increase in the number of GPs could have prevented 127,617 deaths per year in the USA. 11 , 13 Over time, GPs come to know their patients well.
