But that wasn’t the case for the estimated 1 in 15 US patients whose screening colonoscopies were performed by family physicians in 2021.

Therefore, these doctors are not eligible to become board-certified in any of the specialties recognized by the AMA’s American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
