As you might have noticed, I often use the Number Needed to Treat (NNT) to communicate research results. What is the NNT? It’s the number of patients you need to treat to prevent one bad outcome.

Role of General Practitioners in Acute Case Handling

Analysis of 500+ urgent GP visits in Germany shows most cases were handled in-office, often driven by fear, distress, or a need for reassurance. Students also recorded patients’ concerns and expectations, which were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results showed that 523 cases were collected from 53 GP practices.
