My wife brought me to the ER where I was assessed and referred to Orthopedics. The next morning, I called to schedule my appointment. About 20 minutes later, I received a phone call saying I needed to report back to the ER to get IV antibiotics, as I would need to have surgery Friday, after my appointment.

At the Mayo clinic, for example, they’ve got a very robust hospital at home program. I think a lot of back office function, predicting ER loads and OR loads to do better scheduling of staff. There are also versions that are more prediction, but looking at things where that might be useful. That makes sense.
