So, from my standpoint, what I always tell people is to get as much information as possible, so talk to other family members, make sure everybody is on the same kind of pathway. Is it getting to a doctor’s appointment? Are you willing to move into a senior community? We need to get grandpa more help or grandma more help.

Another thing you could do is let’s really encourage discussion ahead of time between the appointed surrogate and the patient while the patient’s competent about patients preferences about their values. And then once we have the surrogate, let’s really try to give them the information they need to make decisions.
