In my field of interest, ophthalmology, sources of unnecessary medical waste include single use eyedrops, oversized surgical drapes in the operating room, the unnecessary use of anesthetic gases during cataract surgeries, and single-use equipment. The product manufacturers and vendors will need to be active partners as well.
