Utility of HANDOC and CH-A in Endocarditis Triage

Medical records were reviewed to classify each episode using the HANDOC score, CH-A, and Duke-ISCVID criteria. The results showed that 325 episodes of 308 individuals with NBHS BSIs were analyzed. The TEE was utilized in 26% of cases. A total of 21 episodes (6.5%) fulfilled the duke-ISCVID criteria for definite IE.

It was really at the level of the ED across 33 EDs in random order, and then tried to see if we could make a difference in healthcare utilization, primarily the primary outcome was admission to the hospital, acute care admission. Yeah, that’s a more complicated story. But yeah, it’s complicated. Is that right?

And so we worked closely with a community advisory group who, through focus groups, told us how it was that black and white individuals with serious illness had wanted to be treated.
