SUD screening is not universally done in primary care (PC). Study period for urban locations: Oct 2–Dec 29, 2023; for the rural location: Nov 1, 2023–Jan 31, 2024. Providers were alerted of positive screens by rooming staff to either assess further or refer to our Pediatric SUD Clinic to manage.

So we did a podcast on aging and homelessness with Margot Kushel in 2023. So we’re going to be today talking about serious illness palliative care in the homelessness population. We have world class primary care, cancer care, palliative care. And that’s about half of our referrals.

We sometimes take care of patients who are on home ventilators, so coming in for an office visit is not practically feasible. They couldn’t get a case manager to refer them in palliative care.
