The initial RCT published on physician coaching in JAMA in 2019 showing that coaching improves quality of life. My wife, who’s a PhD nurse practitioner, who actually was a founding dean of the nursing school at GW, and I were thinking about, well, we’re not sure we want to work for somebody else all the time.

Do you need to be an addiction medicine trained physician to start such a clinic (no: Sach is not). What do they do?

She’s a hospice and palliative care nurse practitioner and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at UCSF. Again, if it’s going to improve quality and not come to cost of clinical care, we need to support it. It was statistically significant, but not all of it was clinically meaningful.
