I am 11 hours into my shift and between physical and telemedicine visits, I have seen a total of 46 patients today AND finished all my notes! When I first applied in the 2018 cycle, the total I spent was $1910 ($1686 in the actual match and the rest during SOAP.reviewing my payment history now). Anyway, back to ERAS. It all adds up.

Raj: It was indeed very, very gradual, and the seeds were sown when I was a medical student. What she called total pain, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual, and she started addressing it. We know that this is necessary in theory, we know that health is not only absence of disease, but physical, social, and mental wellbeing.

I want to say like 2017, 2018, something like that. So it’s a five component scale and it includes slow gate speed, weak and grip strength, exhaustion, unintentional weight loss, and low physical activity, which I really like thinking about those components. It’s now so common that more than half of all doctors report symptoms, with medical students , residents , and even senior clinicians feeling pushed to the brink. Isn’t it weird that now we’re labeling the majority of doctors with burnout in 2018? They blame the medical student.
