Raj: It was indeed very, very gradual, and the seeds were sown when I was a medical student. We included people with bronchial asthma and many people with paralysis, paraplegia. I’ve heard talk about in the family circles that I was an inconvenient child born as a third son, when my dad desperately wanted a girl.
